Generic Name: Estrogens (ESS-troe-jenz)
Premarin and Premplus is a female hormone derivative usually given to women to reduce menopausal symptoms (e.g., hot flashes, vaginal dryness), to prevent bone loss (osteoporosis) in people at high risk, or to treat certain cancers in men and women (e.g., certain types of metastatic breast cancer). It may be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Premarin and Premplus works by replacing and building the estrogen levsls in the body when the body cannot or no longer produces an effective amount of estrogen needed by the body. Premplus combines estrogens with Medroxyprogesterone (me-DROX-ee-proe-JESS-te-rone) for those on a Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) regimen.
